Helsinki, Finland – December 3, 2024: DNA, Elisa, F‑Secure and Telia are proud to announce their contribution to the Cyber Citizen initiative, a leading European program designed to bolster cyber security awareness and education across Europe, led by Aalto University and the Finnish Ministry for Transport and Communications.
The Cyber Citizen initiative is poised to enhance the cyber resilience of millions of Europeans through the launch of its consumer-facing SecPort learning platform and Cyber City Tycoon mobile game. The SecPort platform offers interactive, easily accessible resources in all 24 EU languages to help people understand and combat cyber threats in real-life scenarios. The Cyber City Tycoon mobile game offers the chance for Europeans to learn about cyber security and how to protect themselves in an entertaining and engaging way.
As core contributors to the initiative DNA, Elisa, F‑Secure and Telia have co-created a series of engaging videos hosted on the SecPort platform. These videos offer practical tips on how to stay safe online, tackle scams — the #1 digital threat to consumers — and provide people with the knowledge and tools they need to protect themselves.
Coming together to lead the charge on cyber awareness in Europe
Timo Laaksonen, President and CEO at F‑Secure, said: “The Cyber Citizen initiative is an exceptional program that will set a new standard for cyber awareness across the European Union. Our collaboration with our valued partners DNA, Elisa and Telia positions us as key leaders in driving forward a more cyber-resilient Finland, where we aim to set a standard for creating a safe digital environment for all Europeans. We look forward to setting up Cyber Citizen related awareness campaigns with our local partners also in other European countries in the near future.”
Marianne Lindroth, Project Manager at Aalto University, said: “The Cyber Citizen initiative is world-leading and holds the key to bolstering the cyber resilience of the entire European Union, demonstrating Finland’s leadership in promoting and building cyber awareness and resilience among Europeans. We are delighted to have collaborated with DNA, Elisa, F‑Secure and Telia to create content that engages and informs and spreads awareness about how people can protect themselves from cyber threats.”
Heidi Havastila, Head of Value Added Services at DNA, said: “Raising awareness about various online scams is crucial, especially since they can be incredibly hard to detect. Partnering on the Cyber Citizen initiative has been a meaningful experience, allowing us to join forces in protecting people from the ever-increasing online threats. We believe that the SecPort platform, mobile game, and educational videos are invaluable tools for equipping Europeans with the knowledge and resources they need to navigate the digital world safely.”
Eetu Prieur, Digital Trust Business Director at Elisa, said: “Scams are the number one threat to consumers in the digital age, so it is important to encourage people to develop their skills. Our combined expertise in creating this video content includes practical, actionable information to protect from cyber threats.”
Pasi Mehtonen, Head of Strategy at Telia Finland said: “Digital resilience is increasingly important for businesses and individuals. This initiative is not only about raising awareness but also about empowering Europeans to take control of their digital security. Through our videos and the SecPort platform, we’re giving consumers tools they can use to recognize, understand and prevent cyber threats in their everyday lives.”
