The is a trojan written for Palm OS operating system. When activated, the trojan hides the installed applications, but it does not destroy the applications themselves.
So even as the applications are not visible at the launcer window, they are still in the device. Which can be seen from the memory info.
Screenshot of the Vapor application:
Based on the settings of your F-Secure security product, it will either move the file to the quarantine where it cannot spread or cause harm, or remove it.
A False Positive is when a file is incorrectly detected as harmful, usually because its code or behavior resembles known harmful programs. A False Positive will usually be fixed in a subsequent database update without any action needed on your part. If you wish, you may also:
Check for the latest database updates
First check if your F-Secure security program is using the latest updates, then try scanning the file again.
Submit a sample
After checking, if you still believe the file is incorrectly detected, you can submit a sample of it for re-analysis.
Note: If the file was moved to quarantine, you need to collect the file from quarantine before you can submit it.
Exclude a file from further scanning
If you are certain that the file is safe and want to continue using it, you can exclude it from further scanning by the F-Secure security product.
Note: You need administrative rights to change the settings.
On a PC, the Trojan will appear as a file Vapor.prc with a size of 741 bytes.
When a user tries to execute the application, the trojan is activated and modifies the application attributes so that they are hidden from view. So that it appears as if the applications would be deleted.
This file is a trojan, not a virus, so it cannot replicate itself into any other files.
To remove the trojan from the palm device, select the delete option from the app menu (click menu button when on applications screen), and delete the Vapor application.
To remove the trojan from PC, please use F-Secure Anti-Virus.
If you have activated the trojan the application files will be hidden and can be repaired. but easier way recover is to restore the application from backups.
